Emily Brontë: a Child of the Moors

Acclaimed Melbourne actress Lise Rogers is back by popular demand with her brilliant new one-woman show. Yarra Libraries and the Ewing Trust present this very special event in recognition of International Women’s Day 2021.

Emily Brontë was a member of one of the most famous and enigmatic literary families in English literature. Blending the few letters and diary entries that exist in Emily’s hand, with reminiscences from those who knew her and excerpts from her astonishing Wuthering Heights; this unique performance evokes something of her world, her work and tragically short life.

My sister Emily loved the moors…..she found in the bleak solitude many and dear delights; and not the least and best-loved was - liberty. Liberty was the breath of Emily’s nostrils; without it she perished.

This is an in-person, socially distanced event that will be held in the Fitzroy Town Hall Reading Room.
