PastPort Yarra is a new mobile application developed at the University of Melbourne to explore citizen heritage, facilitating new ways to interpret and produce local knowledge.
The app allows users to explore Yarra, to discover memories and share information from the past to the present with the local community. Users can explore the hidden history of the suburb through text, photographs, videos and audio guides.
Users can also upload their own personal memories (including video and audio) and see how the landscape of Yarra has changed over time using ‘then and now’ photography.
PastPort is a web-driven application, and can be used on all devices, including mobiles, tablets and PCs.

PastPort is a collaborative project between the University of Melbourne, Deakin University, and City of Yarra, funded by the Australian Research Council.
