Whats on at Yarra Libraries

Friday 14 June 2019

What's On at Yarra Libraries in July & August? Glad you asked!

Uncle Jack Charles will drop in to discuss his no-holds-barred memoir, Jack Charles: A Born-Again Blackfella, Dr Sally Gray will discuss the intersection between fashion and friendship, and we'll explore the role of the arts in STEM with founder of Melbourne Combat Robotics and vice president of Melbourne Amateur Rocket Society, Stacy G.

There's plenty of film screenings, starting with Ciro Guerra's multi award-winning Embrace of the Serpent, and a rare chance to see two documentaries (The Tightrope Walker and Painted Lady) about the legendary flame-haired Bohemian of post-war Paris, Vali Myers, followed by a Q&A session with their director, Ruth Cullen.

Get creative with Arabic calligraphy, make a video game with Bitsy, or have a go extracting plant dyes onto natural fabrics. Rebecca Jones is back to deliver more of her ever-popular iPad drawing classes, and we're getting hands-on with open source Photoshop alternatives.

There's something for everyone at Yarra Libraries. All events are free to attend, but bookings are required for most.
