We have a diverse range of venues available for hire, suitable for everything from small meetings to major functions for hundreds of people. Carlton Library Meeting Room

Carlton Library Meeting Room is an ideal location for meetings and small seminars.

This room is located on the second level of the Carlton Library building and is accessible via stairs or lift. Carlton Library is open seven days a week and located close to Lygon Street.

  • The Carlton Library meeting room is available to be booked between 8am and 11pm.
  • A minimum of ten working days notice is required for all potential bookings.
  • This venue is not available to hire on public holidays.
  • As the meeting rooms are located within the library building, noise levels must be controlled during office and library hours. Noise levels that can be heard outside the room may result in the booking being cancelled and money withheld.
  • For meetings held outside library opening hours a representative of the hirer must visit the Library prior to the meeting to collect the keys and receive information about opening and closing procedures.
  • Facilities must be left in a clean and orderly state; tables and chairs must be returned to their original places or additional charges may apply.
  • Alcohol is not permitted in this meeting room.

The Collingwood Library Meeting Room has many different configurations and is a very popular, flexible venue. Collingwood Library is open seven days a week and located close to Hoddle Street.

Richmond Library is open seven days a week and located close to Swan Street. After hours entry to the meeting room is via Church Street.

The Richmond Theatrette is an intimate space suitable for performances, lectures and general meetings.

The theatrette is located on level one of the Richmond Library complex and has capacity for 120 people (cocktail-style) or 80 people (seated).

Restrictions and Further Information

  • Capacity is 80 seated theatre style and 120 standing cocktail-style
  • All functions must finish by 10pm Sunday to Thursday or by 1am Fridays and Saturdays.
  • This venue is not available to hire on public holidays.
  • As Richmond Theatrette is located within the library building, noise levels must be controlled during office and library hours. Unacceptable noise levels that can be heard outside the room may result in the booking being cancelled.
  • You must supply your own cutlery, crockery, glassware and linen.
  • You may choose your own caterer; names of recommended caterers can be provided upon request.
  • This is not a licensed venue. You must apply for a temporary limited licence if you intend to sell alcohol. If you wish to supply alcohol free of charge or to allow your guests to bring their own alcohol, you must submit a Partysafe form to Victoria Police. Functions with alcohol may be asked to hire security guards.

The kitchen features a commercial gas oven, combination oven, gas salamander, urn, gas griddle, commercial dishwasher, refrigerator, freezer and workbench.
