Employment pathways for people with disability

Monday 27 June 2022

Yarra Libraries has partnered with Jigsaw Australia, a social enterprise that trains and transitions people with disability into award wage employment, to help digitise items from our local history collection. Starting with a collection of City of Richmond annual reports from 1912-1944, trainees have already successfully digitised 32 volumes and will continue to work with our local history librarians to digitise more treasures from our collection.

These fragile documents include financial statements, public health information, charitable works, road building and original photographs that provide rich detail about community life in Yarra. We are excited to make them available online and have worked with the National Library of Australia to also have them available via TROVE, Australia's largest digital archive. Browse the City of Richmond annual reports via our catalogue.

“From the get-go, the trainees have done an exceptional job. It was clear from the sample document that they would deliver high-quality digital copies of our records – I completely trusted that they would do a good job. I’m so pleased these special records can now be enjoyed by anyone!”
