Some skills are more difficult to learn strictly through a book, which is why your Yarra Libraries membership also includes free access to a slate of amazing online learning platforms in the form of LinkedIn Learning, Mango Languages and Creativebug.

Today we thought we’d take a whirlwind tour through the Creativebug library and find a few gems to get you started learning a new craft or artistic practice.

Wrapped rope rainbow

We love the look of this wrapped rope rainbow which evokes a bit of 1970s macrame style in a way that’s fresh, yet feels vintage and rustic.

Painting watercolour pet portraits

If you’re anything like some of our librarians, you’ve got a furry little friend that you’re absolutely obsessed with. Personally my cat gets a ton of silly little one-off songs written for her, so the logical next step in my devotion is definitely “paint a watercolour of my fur baby".

Procreate 101

From humble beginnings in Tasmania, Procreate has grown from a novelty to an app that's part of professional workflows for many of today's digital artists. And fortunately, it's also an intuitive program that can help anyone explore their creativity on an iPad. Learn the basics and get off on the right foot thanks to some tips from an expert!

Make resin paperweights

Make your desk look like some kind of workplace Pinterest utopia with these cute resin paperweights. Can someone please recreate the mosquito-in-sap from the original Jurassic Park film in paperweight form? Send pics!

We reckon cash is still king when you've got one of these little baddies! This is a cute little pouch for whatever small objects you have in mind.

Marbled gift wrappings

Make a special gift just a little bit more special with your own personalised wrapping paper. Paper marbling is such a fun process and can potentially also be a fun activity for kids.

That's all we've got for today, so head on over to Creativebug with your membership details to get crafting and watch any of these video courses for free!
